This is what happened today:
Holly and I were supposed to be at the beach this weekend so she could surf, but things didn’t work out that way. So I thought, “What is something we can do together, that she will love….wakeboard!” Yep, this chic went wakeboarding. And what am I supposed to do with this new adventure? Bring glory to God and write about perseverance!
My first two attempts were just that…attempts. I did fall gracefully into the water though. Points for not busting it…yet. (See this video of my first attempt.)
On my third try, success. (Check this video out! I love hearing Holly in the background, while videoing, say “Oh” in a surprise tone.) I’m just gonna say that it was because I had some pro-wakeboarders helping me. Oh, okay, it was pure determination, AND the assistance of those guys and my amazing daughter, Holly. EVERYONE assisting and giving me hints were all amazing! It took a village. Kuddos to the crew at McCormick’s Ski and Cable Park!
With each effort God and I would have a little chat. I’d remember the hints, envision how I wanted to be, say to God “Let’s do this”, and just go for it. Perseverance. Never give up.
One of my favorite bible verses is “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 Well, I wasn’t “doing good” in the first place, but I definitely did not give up.
I never made it all the way around today though. I’d dropped off on the third turn. When I was going for what I was hoping would be my last hoorah and have complete success going all the way around, I totally wiped out! Face plant. Out of the boots. Headache. Ouch! I’m done for the day! Well, there’s always tomorrow. Yes! I will! With God’s help, I’ll make it ALL THE WAY AROUND. With strengthen, determination, and perseverance, there will be success. Never give up!
What a perfect way to end my day…the lightening started to come our way so I hung out with Holly and her friends (all who are pros and work at McCormick’s). I hope I didn’t cramp her style too much. It was great getting to know the boys. Then, on my way home I heard “Press On” by Building 429 (BTW, this video is the perfect video for a song to show while I write a memory with my daughter. Just watch and you’ll know why…CA Surfin’) Awesome! I did and will continue to Press On!
Thanks, Holly, for the memories! I love you!
What about you? Is there a challenge in your life you need to persevere through? Maybe you’re trying a new fun adventure as well and want to see it through. You can do it! Don’t give up!
I pray many blessings and much joy for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
That’s my girl. Honey, I told someone I didn’t know where you got your “daredevilment” from; then I thought I use to would try some things when I was a lot Younger than you. Not anymore. Love you and the way you find a devotional in anything you try. Love you.
