“The Lord is near to everyone who sincerely calls to Him for help.” Psalm 145:18
Some may read this and think this is totally superficial, but I thought it was an answer to prayer and pretty cool.
One year ago I purchased a pair of very comfortable boots. I was so excited over this little pair of boots. I wore them twice and the zipper broke. After they spent three months at the shoe repair store, I was informed that they were not able to mend them. I was bummed. Yes, over a pair of boots. But they were so comfortable!
Well, I never forgot about those boots. Summertime came and went, and my mind went to those boots again as fall and winter were approaching. I’d shop around for another pair, but nothing was as comfortable as my previous, worn twice, broken zipper pair from last year.
Then, this past week, while in Savannah on a mother/daughter getaway, I was on a mission one morning. I told my sister-in-law that I wanted to go see if I can find a pair of brown boots. As we parked the car, I put my hands on the wheel and said, “Lord, I really want those boots. I’ve been patient for a year now. Please let me find some boots today.”
Okay, now you’re saying, “Stephanie, seriously? Praying for boots?” And my reply is, “You bet!”
I walked into the store, marched my way to the shoe section, looked for my size, saw the same name brand of my previous boots, opened the box, and….the SAME color and style of boots as before! They had two pair, and one just happened to be my size. I put them on and danced and pranced around. I even did a little jog-in-place and pronounce, “They are so comfy I can run in them!” I’m sure the other customers were thinking I was a bit crazy, but I didn’t care. A big “Thank You, Jesus” was in order.
Remember Psalm 145:18 mentioned above, “The Lord is near to everyone who sincerely calls to Him for help.” Well, I sincerely called to Him for help and He answered.
But wait! He didn’t just answer, God gave me a double blessing. I opened another box of boots, they only had a pair in my size, actually the only pair like it in the store, and they were too stinkin’ cute! I felt like I was given a Double-Blessing!
That’s it. That’s my story. Some may still think “superficial”, and some of you out there will totally get the shoe-excitement-thing. But most importantly I want you to understand that God doesn’t care how insignificant your prayer request may appear to be, to Him it’s a big deal. God loves seeing His children happy.
Go ahead and send your prayers, large or small, to your Heavenly Father. Be sincere. Bring glory to Him through it all. And just maybe…be prepared for double blessing.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
