According to Merriam- Webster dictionary a superhero is “a fictional character who has amazing powers (such as the ability to fly) or a very heroic person”. That may be true when it comes to how many in society deem a superhero, but mine is REAL with AMAZING POWERS and is TOTALLY EPIC.
When I read Job 37 this morning I couldn’t help but think about how Superman, Spider-man, the Hulk, Wolverine, Batman, and even Wonder Woman, don’t have anything on my superhero. Sure they are exciting to watch and do marvelous, fictitious tasks. My Hero can do true wonders.
I took excerpts from Job 37 to illustrate what my Hero can do:
2 thunder rolls from his mouth.
4 His tremendous voice majestic.
5 His voice is glorious…We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.
6 He directs and tells (the weather what to do)
7 Then everyone stops working so they can watch his power.
10 His breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water.
12 The clouds churn about at his direction. They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
13 He makes these things happen either to punish people or to show his unfailing love.
18 He makes the skies reflect the heat like a bronze mirror.
22 He is clothed in dazzling splendor.
23 We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; he is just and righteous, 24 people everywhere fear him. All who are wise show him reverence.
These examples are just diminutive illustrations of what my Superhero can do. He created heaven and earth, the stars, moon, and sun, animals and vegetation, and the land and sea. His greatest creation is you! I think that’s pretty epic.
He creates things and He also changes things. No, He doesn’t change, but He sure can change your life. He changed mine, and I am forever grateful.
Job 37:14 says that we are to “Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!” Yep, my Superhero is God.
Have you stop and considered all the wonderful miracles He’s done? Not just in general, but in your own life? I want to encourage you to stop and do so now. Give Him thanks. Marvel at His glorious majesty.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
