What identifies you?
We have four cars in our driveway daily. By looking at the back windows you can tell whose vehicle is whose. Wait, all but mine.
Tim mentioned to me a few weeks ago that I needed to get with the program and procure a decal on the back of my car that identifies me.
I’ve been pondering as to what to put on there. I saw a “Christ Life” decal. I liked that. Then I saw a “Beach Life” and liked that one as well. I could fill my back window up with various decals that describe me, but I’m not going there. Nope, not this chic. (To steal a line from Seinfeld, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”)
Then I thought, “If people REALLY want to know who this vehicle belongs to I should have a decal created that says ‘Soaking Up The Son.com’ with a beachy/Jesus feel to it.” One would definitely get to know me. They’d know about my family, my hobbies, loves, and most importantly my desire to know more about, grow closer to, and love for Jesus.
So why has it taken me so long to have one created for my window? Well, besides having no clue as to how to obtain for specifically for Soaking Up The Son.com, I’ve really had to think about the actions that will go along with my “identification”. How’s my driving? Am I going too fast? Hmmmm, probably. Did I cut someone off? Not usually. Am I displaying any form of road rage? I don’t think so. I do talk to cars and people without them knowing and wonder if “THEY are a little crazy” or not, or mumble to myself about the “stupid” choice THEY made or making while driving. But most importantly I wonder if I’m displaying an image that God would approve of since I write about Him and want others to see God’s love in and through me.
This whole thought process made me connect the decals on our cars to one’s walk with Christ. Here I was thinking about my actions while driving my car with a decal displaying who and Whose I am, but how we aren’t so different in our daily lives with our deeds and words.
So allow me to ask the question again…“What identifies you?”
We are created in God’s image. “So God created humans in His own image. He created them to be like Himself. He created them male and female.” Genesis 1:27. What an honor it is to be formed in the image of God!
You are royalty! “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.“ 1 Peter 2:9
Those who have invited Christ into their lives…“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12. My friend, YOU are a CHILD OF GOD. Sweet!
And…“But whoever is united with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.” 1 Corinthians 6:17. I hope you have the spirit of Christ in you. And when you do, be mindful of Who you represent. Display God’s love through your words and actions.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
PS: I am looking for someone to design and print a window decal for me. Are you creative and have the means to do so? Please let me know and present an idea to me. THANKS.
