You have a choice to make. What will it be?
In life we have many choices. Actually, you have a choice for each second of your day…what to eat, where to go, what words will come out of your mouth, what to watch on television, to read the bible or not, what to wear, oh my this list could go on and on with the specifics of each day. But, there is one decision that you must make that is far more important than any of those examples, and even the choice as to whether to eat that piece of chocolate cake or not.
Once you become a Christian by inviting Jesus into your heart, some may think, “I’m good. I’ve got God. I made that choice and now I’m free.” Well, that is a start, but don’t you know that Satan thinks of you now as a challenge that he wants to conquer. He loves it when we slip up and choose the ways of the world. (I can imagine his sneaky laugh now as he rolls his hands together.) The father of lies desires nothing more than for you to select to walk another direction than the one that God has planned for you.
I’m thinking that choosing who you will serve is a daily, and yea, just maybe, an every second, type of choice you must make.
Notice in Joshua 24:15 the words I’ve emphasized by underlining and making them bold:
“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
You need to choose THIS DAY. Make it a daily thing. The first thing each morning.
Let’s do this again with an emphasis on four more words:
“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
God’s way may not always appear to be the most pleasant, the easiest, the most “desirable”, but in the end…it IS!
Okay, one more exercise:

I’m just saying…I choose to serve the Lord. I choose for my family to serve the Lord. Now, there some of you go saying, “Wait, Stephanie, you can’t choose for your family.” And you are absolutely correct. But I sure can guide, encourage, and model the right choice for them.
