dateAre you like me? Whenever it is the date of my birth and I have to write the date (which is all the time for me as a teacher), I automatically write the year of my birth. I have to consciously focus on the year that it truly is.
Today, I can assure you that I will begin to write the date 12/11/68. Writing this date is an instinctive response for me. Today is my birthday! I’ve learned that just like the date, my age is nothing but a number.
Speaking of numbers, and specifically years…do you realize that each time you write the year you are reminded of the best birthday ever?! We are in the year 2015 A.D.. A.D. stands for the Latin phrase anno domini, which means “in the year of our Lord”. So whether you profess that you are a Christ believer or not, you are stating the fact and honor the year that our Savior, Jesus Christ, God’s Son, our Redeemer, was born. Glory!!
I’m so grateful that God is a God of promises, and that He does what He says He will do. We are reminded throughout the bible that God said that He would send a savior.
In Deuteronomy 18:15 Moses told the Israelites, “The Lord your God will send to you a prophet. This prophet will come from among your own people, and He will be like me. You must listen to Him.” The “him” he was talking about was Jesus! That was in Deuteronomy! The Old Testament!
Checkout another Old Testament verse, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14.
“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6. Oh, there’s so much more, but…
Finally…“She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them…Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:7 and 11
So go ahead and think of my birthday on 12/11, but remember The Lord, Jesus Christ’s birth each day of the year!
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
