“Get rich quick.”
You see signs stapled to telephone poles or wedged into the ground on the side of the road, receive “unknown caller” phone calls, and may be attracted to the clever advertising in the media…all attempting to entice you to a fast-money-way-of-life. BEWARE!
My pastor is doing a series of sermons on “Prayer: An Unstoppable Force”. Brother Brian is taking the Lord’s modeled prayer and deciphering it verse-by-verse. This past Sunday the focus was on Matthew 6:11, “Give us today our daily bread”. He said something that I just had to write down (okay, one of many things I jotted down): “Focus on the need, not the greed.” I love it!
Friend, when you do the inverse and focus on the greed instead of the need, you are stealing your own joy. Don’t let anyone steal your joy!
1 Timothy 6:10 (AMP) reads, “For the love of money [that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically] is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves [through and through] with many sorrows.”
Do you want to know the real way to “get rich”? Wait, before I show you how, let me share with you this cute phrase I saw: “Get rich quick…Count your blessings.” Priceless! Chi-chang. Start counting your blessings and feel the wealth of your true treasures filling your heart.
I often would respond to my kids (my own and mine at school) when they would say, “Are we (you) rich?” “Yes, in my heart.” So true. I’m chi-changing all day when I count my blessings.
Okay, so here we go…how to “get rich”:
“Devotion to God is, in fact, a way for people to be very rich…” 1 Timothy 6:7a. Oh, wait…there’s a “but” to continue the rest of the verse: “…, but only if it makes them satisfied with what they have.” 1 Timothy 6:7b. Be satisfied. God WILL give you what you need daily.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33.

Focus on God. Let the Lord be your daily desire. When you do, you will discover much delight and an unimaginable amount of wealth.
Oh, please continue reading in Matthew 6 verses 7 through 9 and be content and take heed:

“After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.”

I can’t wait until this coming Sunday’s sermon. According to the model prayer it will be on forgiveness. Two things that I love and need and must do: pray and forgive. Amen! I would like to invite you to come to my church. Visit http://fbcpc.com/ for details.
