retweetLet’s REview an issue with social media that I’m sure it’s not your first time hearing about. There are many folks out there, especially the youth, who REtweet and REpost videos, photos, and comments that they have no business RE-putting-out-in-the-world.
Now, there are positive and funny postings that may be worthy of a REtweet or REpost because they have no intension of causing harm to anyone. That’s perfectly fine. But…the issue is with all the humiliation that can be and is brought to others by this process when it shades a negative light on someone.
I see it quite often being a middle school teacher. The REtweets and REposts are like gossip that can be misconstrued and bring shame to others, and often one’s self. Folks, if it isn’t your story to tell, and it isn’t encouraging, then don’t share it.
Many REply to comments/videos/photos in the same manner. Other’s posting may cause us to have a “shock-and-awe” moment or is totally inappropriate to be posted for all the world to see, but we don’t need to REply to the unfortunate event that happened in one’s life in a callous way.   Again…if it isn’t your story to tell, and it isn’t encouraging, then don’t share it.
We need to REfocus our intentions, REview our thoughts and actions, and consciously choose to not REtweet, REpost, and REply to postings that can or may bring humiliation to others.
We need to REspond (if any response is warranted) with graciousness. REmember to think before you speak or do anything. Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, or Kind? If not…then keep your mouth shut and your fingers from REplying.
Here are some bible verses to help you REfocus before you REtweet, REpost, or REspond:

“Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims.” 1 Corinthians 6:12

“In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2

“Do everything without complaining and arguing” Philippians 2:14

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians15:33

We could go on and on REgarding this issue, but I hope that you will REview your own social media and delete any unkind REmarks and or REpostings.
I pray that you will enjoy soaking up The Son every moment of each day. –Stephanie
