As I prepare for a speaking engagement, I’m sitting here doing a little research from some of my former journal entries. This particular one has nothing to do (at least I don’t think yet) with my topic for the presentation, but I just liked this little diddy. I hope you will too and think about how you want to be remembered or known. It’s from June 29, 2013.
How are you known? I’m known as:
- Tim’s wife
- Hunter, Holly, and Cole’s mom
- Momma Shuff
- Stephanie (NOT Stephy! Don’t you go there.)
- _______’s teacher
- A daughter
- A sister (the ONLY sister of three OLDER brothers. Yes, I was spoiled.)
- A friend
- A co-worker
This list could go on with various titles. And as a mom, the list is endless with roles. You may even have a name for me that I don’t know of. Yikes! I hope it’s a kind one.
Today when I was reading 2 Kings, Elisha was called “man of God” five times in 21 verses. Each time I read his title, “man of God”, I got a smile on my face. I thought, ‘That’s what I want to be known as, “A woman of God”.’
No, I’m no prophet like Elisha was. I’m just a girl who loves and desires to know more and be more in love with God.
How do you want to be known or remembered?
For me…A woman of God.
Blessings and God’s love to all!
I want to be remembered as a daughter who loved, honored and obeyed her parents; who love her Lord and Savior and loved and treasurers her children and was a good friend, kind and considerate of others.
