hahahaha..."nah, mom."

hahahaha…”nah, mom.”

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23
Hunter will shoot me for posting this photo, but, hey, I’m a proud momma.
Last night I joke with him about how I need to take his “first day on the job” photo, and Hunter (my eldest) just grinned and shook his head as replying “No, mom, you’re nuts.” Well, call me what you want, son, but momma got her photo…kinda.
Life doesn’t always work out the way “we” planned it, but God will work it out the way that is best for us when we follow Him.
Transparent moment here, and lessons learned:
We always raised/”programmed” our children that after high school you go to college, get a good job, get married, and then have a family. In. That. Order. Tim and I were college grads who followed “the plan”. Worked for us.
During high school and his first year of college, Hunter worked in the land development business. He learned many valuable lessons working for WTS (Wetherington Tractor Service). After a year and a half of college, it was discovered that the college-life wasn’t going to work out for Hunter. His heart wasn’t in it. No passion. He was always wanting to get busy working and making money.
After many talks/prayers/tears Hunter articulated that he enjoys building things and is good in math. The conversations led to the construction/contracting business and the various aspects of it. We mentioned that he should learn some trades, gain an appreciation, and through much prayer…figure it out. He did. He worked with a friend in the tiling business. He, again, gained valuable insight and work ethics through working on demoing and laying tile and all that comes with that avenue. He even assisted the contractor who is building our home a few times.
His uncle Todd was at the right place at the right time to learn about a position available with the nation’s leading homebuilder. After the whole application and interview process, Hunter was hired! He attended a workshop last week to complete official paperwork and receive his benefits.
So…today is Hunter’s first day on the job! Hunter now has the passion he lacked in college. He is learning trades and the business in which he desires to pursue.
I sent Hunter Colossians 3:23 this morning via a text. I pray that he will often look at that verse as he sets out on his new endeavor.text to hunter
Was it the path that “we” had planned/programmed for our first born? Nope. But God’s plans are always greater than our plans. There is a reason for everything. Who knows where this will lead for Hunter, but I am confident that if he follows Jesus with all his heart, He will be just fine. Praise the Lord!
Hunter, I’m so proud of you!  You are going to do amazing things through Christ.

“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” Proverbs 19:21

“Turn to the Lord for help in everything you do, and you will be successful.” Proverbs 16:3

“Everything you say and everything you do should be done for Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.” Colossians 3:17

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Have a wonderful day.
I pray that you will enjoy soaking up THE SON every moment of each day. –Stephanie
