So all of you should live together in peace. Try to understand each other. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Be kind and humble. 1 Peter 3:8
When I read the bible verse for the day a few things came to mind:
- Live together in peace? Ahhh, that sounds invigorating. I’m grateful to have grown up and continue to live in a peaceful home. I know many who live contrary to the environment I am accustomed to. Imagine if we did strive for peace in our lives what a difference our world/country/home/families/work places/streets would be. Seek peace. (Psalm 34:14) I’m not sure about a peace for all while living on our temporary home (earth), but I am confident in an everlasting peace. If you want to truly know peace, get to know The Prince of Peace and have a relationship with Him. (Romans 5:1) Find peace in Him. (John 16:33) When you have Christ in your heart, you will have the assurance of living in peace in Heaven.
- TRY to understand each other. That’s all…TRY. I often shake my head when I observe others, but I strive to force myself to come to the understanding that we are all different. (1 Corinthians 12:18-30) Our backgrounds and circumstances are not alike. We don’t know the reasons why people say and do the things they do, but we can try to be empathetic and sympathetic to other’s situations. I challenge you to put forth your best effort in recognizing and appreciating the differences and similarities in others. This just may, hopefully, will boost you to say a prayer for someone else. When you find yourself praying for others and/or praying for that person that you truly need to have an “understanding moment” with, don’t forget to pray for yourself. Your own attitude may need a little tweaking too. (Works for me.)
- Love each other like brothers and sisters. Are you saying “Oh me” or Oh MY!” right about now? Relationships between brothers and sisters can be (okay, some of you may say ARE) difficult. (Reread the bullet point above.) I LOVE and adore my three brothers! Did we always get along? Ha! But we know we had each other’s backs…and still do. Have you ever heard the saying, “Blood is thicker than water”? Well, friend, when you become a Christ follower you are a part of the FAMILY of God. You are brought together/forgiven/saved/loved by the blood of Christ. You are surrounded by “brothers and sisters in Christ” every day (hopefully). We are to love like Christ; be kind, compassionate, and forgiving. (Ephesians 4:32) Love one another. (John 13:34-35)
- Be kind and humble. (Please click here.)
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.”
When I first read the word, “Finally”, that encouraged me to read the preceding verses to see what I missed out on in the previous verses. Go ahead, read 1 Peter 3 and discover instructions on “how to live”.
Have a wonderful day.
I pray that you will always find time (rain or shine) to enjoy soaking up The Son. He is so worth it! And…He thinks you are worth everything!
