On, July 4th, God’s power was captivating.
My family chose to not fight any crowds on the beach to observe the fireworks to celebrate our country’s birthday. Instead, we hopped on the boat and witnessed a little more than just a sky lit by a colorful display of pyrotechnics.
Before we rounded the point of the island, we were confronted with a magnificent demonstration of God’s artistry. The sunset occupied the sky with colors of blue, grey, white, yellow, orange, peach, and hint of lavender. The colors were beautifully reflecting off the tropical water. I’ve often said that God is the greatest artist ever, and He did not disappoint that night.
While we awaited the fireworks to light up the night’s sky, we were enthralled by our Heavenly Father’s own way of “lighting up the night’s sky”. Wow! That’s it, just “WOW!”
We felt like we were attending a tennis match. On our right, we were captivated by the horizontal lightning that lit up the cumulus clouds. Only a couple of times did the lightning bolt touch the ground. The storm clouds were unhurriedly moving offshore. It was as if God was like, “Show me what you’ve got, with your manmade blasts. You want an explosion in the sky? Watch this…BAM!”
On our left was a collection of firework presentations up and down the coastline.
I found myself gravitating more towards the electrifying demonstration on my right.
Watching the sky that night made me think of a couple of reminders:
- God is more powerful than man.
- Compared to the fireworks we saw (they seem to be the similar each year), yet with excited anticipation…God’s display was unpredictable. He is always faithful, yet we can’t predict what God will do next. That is where we and why we must put our faith in Him. There are a plethora of things that I am not “in the know” of, but one thing I can have complete confidence in that God loves me and desires the best for me.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. 1 Corinthians 1:25
God is the one who used His power and made the earth. He used His wisdom and built the world with His understanding He stretched the sky over the earth. (How can I not include the next verse as well considering the topic…) God causes the loud thunder, and He causes great floods of water to fall from the sky. He makes clouds rise in the sky every place on earth. He sends lightning with the rain. He brings out the wind from His storehouses. Jeremiah 10:12-13
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20
Lord my God, you have done many amazing things! You have made great plans for us – too many to list. I could talk on and on about them, because there are too many to count. Psalm 40:5
It is my prayer that you will gravitate to The Almighty God, and trust in Him.
Blessings to you and yours.
Enjoy soaking up The Son wherever you are. Stephanie
