Last week, I was working in the yard for three hours, 8:30 AM – 13:30 AM. Within that time period, I only drank one bottled water. I thought that I was doing okay, because I would go and drink some water. But…I truly wasn’t okay.
I came inside, drank water, showered, rested, and continued to hydrate.
While on the phone with a friend, I began feeling queasy. I said, “Susan, I think I need to go. I’m not feeling well.”
Sure enough, this chic got sick.
After taking some medicine for my pounding headache, a nap was calling my name. With my head up (“When the face is red, raise your head. When the face is pale, raise the tail.”), my eyes closed for about an hour. It took a good part of the day for me to get my strength back, but I did recover.
This reminded me of how we need to stay hydrated not only physically, but spiritually.
I want to encourage you to stay thirsty for Christ, yet stay hydrated in Christ.
Get in the word. Get involved in a local church or small group. Read encouraging books by Christian artist. (One book I recommend is My Emmaus: Godis Faithful 24/7 by Mike Parker.). Listen to Christian music. Surround yourself with friends who are like minded in Jesus so that you can keep each other accountable.
(The Motivational Monday video isn’t uploading for some reason, but it did on the Soaking Up The Son Facebook page. So sorry. Go there to view. I’ll try to upload again.)
Here are just a few bible verses for you regarding thirst:
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But anyone who drinks the water I give will never be thirsty again. The water I give people will be like a spring flowing inside them. It will bring them eternal life.” The woman said to Jesus, “Sir, give me this water. Then I will never be thirsty again and won’t have to come back here to get more water.”
John 4:13-15
The last day of the festival came. It was the most important day. On that day Jesus stood up and said loudly, “Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink.
John 7:37
“I will pour water for thirsty people, and streams will flow through the desert. I will pour my Spirit on your children, and I will bless your family.
Isaiah 44:3
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Everyone who hears this should also say, “Come!” All who are thirsty may come; they can have the water of life as a free gift if they want it.
Revelation 22:17
God, you are my God. I am searching so hard to find you. Body and soul, I thirst for you in this dry and weary land without water.
Psalm 63:1
Stay thirsty, my friends.
I’d love for you to share how your quench your spiritual thirst.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
