Today’s bible verse:
As people understand your word, it brings light to their lives. Your word makes even simple people wise. Psalm 119:130
When I read today’s bible verse, two things came to my mind, okay…a little more than two.
-
I am a simple person. Truth. Through diving into God’s word I become wise, even in my simple-minded self.
-
We gain knowledge and understand the Bible by READING it. Crack open your dusty bible or click on your bible app and begin reading His word DAILY.
-
There’s so much darkness in our world, why not make a difference and be the light the world needs to see. You can be by enriching your life through Christ and allowing him to shine through you.
-
What’s another way we can become wise in the word? Get to church. Gain insight and a godly perspective and understanding by attending a church where the word of God is preached, truth is taught, and the fellowship is sweet.
-
Thinking of churches…I live in a town where there is a church on almost every corner. Literally. I love it! When we were in Ireland (and this goes for most other countries and places we visit), a church on every corner is not the norm. The churches in Ireland were old in structure, yet solid. They were crafted with great architectural detail. To hear about a church’s history was interesting. One church we visited was the church that Christopher Columbus visited before he left for his voyage to America. We all need to remember, the building may be called a church, but the real church is the people within the structure.
I want to encourage you to get to church and get involved, open the Bible and start learning it through reading the word and soaking up every depth of insight, and to be the light that others need to see. A phrase I used to often hear is “you may be the only bible someone reads”. I sure hope and pray that when they see you they see truth, forgiveness, love, compassion, and someone who strives to be more like Christ each day.
All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live. Using the Scriptures, those who serve God will be prepared and will have everything they need to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Yep, you just may get a spanking from God when you start reading the scripture, and that’s a good thing. He disciplines those He loves. (Hebrew 12:6). God’s word will show you how to live. It’s The Life Instruction book. Use it.
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17
Hear God’s word through listening to solid and biblically based pastors, listening to Christian music, and speak it yourself so others can listen to the truth through you.
God’s word is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts. Hebrews 4:12
Be prepared…when you read and study the Bible, this truth will go deep into you. It (really The Holy Spirit) will reveal thoughts and feelings which are in our hearts. Purify yourself with the cleansing of God’s word.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
