We have sufferings now, but these are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us. Romans 8:18
Last night, Tim and I went to have dinner with Holly. When we took the above photo, they joked with me about “Watch out, we just may find ourselves in her blog.” Well, well, well, you are right! God presented a situation, and I’m running with it.
Here you go:
What normally would be about a fifty minute journey to Holly’s college home, took us two hours!
Tim and I passed by a car fire, and a car crash before we hit “Malfunction Junction” (I4 and I275 connection). Once we were through downtown Tampa, it took us 45 minutes to go about three miles. Google Maps indicated five accidents on the Howard Franklin bridge…where we were…with no exit around…just water and LOTS of cars.
As we were approaching each incident, I’d say a quiet prayer for those involved and voice “I’m grateful that that’s not us.”
We’d make the most of the situation, watched numerous airplanes fly overhead, and laugh at various scenes along the way.
Once we were at a cruising speed, I texted Holly to let her know. She replied, “Finally!”3B6550FB-101E-49EE-AF42-1AA5B5065ADC
We were greeted with a “Holly Hug” and dad finally got to see her new apartment. We walked a few blocks to dinner and enjoyed good food and wonderful conversation.
Our night was wonderful! Holly is such a strong, beautiful, and intelligent young lady. She loves her studies, and is although excited and passionate about what she will be earning her degree in, the fact of soon facing the real world is a bit frightening.
This evening reminded me of how we will have delays, struggles, accidents, and other trials in life, but if we have our hope on the glory that we will see in the end, it is so worth it.
I want to encourage you to count your blessings (even…or should I say especially… in those difficult times), stay focused on God, laugh along the way, and make sure your heart is right with Christ so that through it all you will see glory in the end.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
