For the past month, I’ve passed a simple sign in the front of a country church that simply says, JESUS. When I read that name, comfort washed over me, and the thought of “when you don’t know what to say, just say Jesus” came into my mind. Glory!
Y’all, His name is powerful!
There is power in the name of Jesus.
I just finished listening to my brother Mike Parker preach a sermon titled “In The Valley of Dry Bones”. (http://www.shadygrovenow.com/sermon-audio/index.html) In his message he shared a story about when one of his former pastors was walking through the parking lot, with a group of men, on their way to attend a men’s conference. All of a sudden, a man who stood about 6’8” came charging after him in the parking lot at the Georgia Dome. The pastor didn’t know what to do. So before the man approached him, he yelled out “JESUS”. BAM! The man passed out right their on the pavement. When the man came too, he was in his right mind and asked, “What did you hit me with?” The pastor said, “All I did was say Jesus.” The man replied, “When you said Jesus, I got the holy ___ knocked out of me.” The pastor and his friends were able to lead the man to Christ right there and they all walked into the Georgia Dome together. Glory! JESUS!
Y’all, did I say the name of Jesus is powerful? Yes!
His name saves:
“Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through Him!” Acts 4:12
His name is greater than any other name:
So God raised Him up to the most important place and gave him the name that is greater than any other name. God did this so that every person will bow down to honor the name of Jesus. Everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will bow. They will all confess, “Jesus Christ is Lord.” And this will bring glory to God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
His name makes you right:
In the past some of you were like that. But you were washed clean, you were made holy, and you were made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11
His name causes great things to happen:
And now, Lord, listen to what they are saying. They are trying to make us afraid. We are your servants. Help us to say what you want us to say without fear. Help us to be brave by showing us your power. Make sick people well. Cause miraculous signs and wonders to happen by the authority of Jesus, your holy servant. Acts 4:29-30
I want to encourage you to cry out to Jesus, thank Jesus, love Christ, and when you don’t know what to say…simply say JESUS.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
