Last night we were looking at the game camera to see how the deer population, and any other one of God’s creatures, were doing on our property. Towards the end of the photos was one captured of me with the professional size weed eater in my hand. The weeds in front of the game camera, and around our pond, had become unruly. It was time to do some weed removal.
In the photos, you could see animals, but the weeds were blocking some of the view. Then, after this chic got busy with her landscaping tool, ahhhh…the view was no longer obstructed.
Some weeds required a cut down, and I was able to pull some up from the ground roots and all.
This reminded me…Do you (me/we) need to remove some unruly weeds (I’ll call them sin) in your life?
I want to encourage you to:
-
Allow and ask God to examine you. Test me, LORD, and try me, examine my heart and mind. Psalm 26:2
-
Test yourself. Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are living in the faith. 2 Corinthians 13:5a
-
After the examinations…get rid/weed out those unruly things in your life. So get rid of everything evil in your lives—every kind of wrong you do. Be humble and accept God’s teaching that is planted in your hearts. This teaching can save you. James 1:21
-
Once gone, dive into God’s word and do what it says. Do what God’s teaching says; don’t just listen and do nothing. When you only sit and listen, you are fooling yourselves. Hearing God’s teaching and doing nothing is like looking at your face in the mirror and doing nothing about what you saw. You go away and immediately forget how bad you looked. But when you look into God’s perfect law that sets people free, pay attention to it. If you do what it says, you will have God’s blessing. Never just listen to his teaching and forget what you heard. James 1:22-25
Listen, we all have sin in our lives. You’ve got to stay on top of things. Let Jesus be your Gardener so He can cut down or pull out those wicked weeds in your life. Be beautiful in Christ. Ahhh…the view when we focus on Christ is so much better.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
