All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
I have used these bible verses so many times when trying to make sense of “ugh” situations we go through in life.
Y’all, troubles and trials WILL come our way (John 16:33, James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:10, Romans 12:12,…). Through those “ugh” situations, hold on to Jesus. Cling to Him. Feel His words grasping you as you read and search through them for comfort during those “why” moments.
When I read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 this morning, then closed my eyes to pray for God to reveal insight to me and to speak to me and through me, an overwhelming amount of situations came to my mind. I thought about: suicide, infidelity, sexual abuse, loss of a parent/child/children, miscarriage, divorce, unemployment, stuck in an unhealthy relationship, bankruptcy, etc.. These situations are humanly ranked, yet to God no matter what you are going through, no matter how minimal or severe the world may evaluate your situation, it matters to Him. He is here to comfort you in and through any and all situations…“ugh” moments.
When you make it through, you’ll find yourself able to comfort someone else who is going through the same “ugh” moment you went through.
My thoughts go to my friend who lost her teenage son. Through the years, she has been able to witness to and be a source of comfort and peace to other parents who have experienced the same situation.
Another friend has gone through rehab and is being an influence on others with the same type of addiction.
A loved one who has experienced a family member’s suicide and they were able to share their struggle with someone who has carried around bitterness and resentment for years when they went through the same “ugh” moment.
When a miscarriage occurred, a friend was able to hold and bring comfort to her hurting friend.
The list of examples can go on and on of instances where people have been able to use their tribulation as a source of encourage to someone else. Even when you/we may not have even felt complete resolution in our own “ugh” moment, being able to walk through and comfort someone else was part of our own healing process.
I pray that you will take deliverance in knowing that God desires to and will comfort you. He is the source of ALL comfort. He wants to heal you and is able to use your “ugh” moment to comfort others.
To God be ALL the glory in and through each situation in your life.
Be strong. Stick with Jesus. Lean on Him. Shine bright for Christ. Heal well. Allow god to use you and your situation. It’s part of the process.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
