When I read this sentence in Jennifer Rothschild’s bible study on Psalm 23, it made me think of a phrase I say often with my children, and in various journal entires here. My saying is, “Remember who you are and Whose you are.” Jennifer’s statement, “The condition of the sheep is a reflection of the shepherd”, convicted me!
Please listen to the words in this video. I pray they will encourage you:
I know I want to reflect Jesus in the best way I can. How about you?
Oh, here’s the scripture mentioned in the video for you to ponder on. Read the verses and discover what God does for His name’s sake:
For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Psalm 25:11
For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely. Isaiah 48:9
Although our sins testify against us, do something, Lord, for the sake of your name. For we have often rebelled; we have sinned against you. Jeremiah 14:7
But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites. Ezekiel 20:9
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Psalm 31:3
You will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, you people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord . ’”. Ezekiel 20:44
he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3
Do you see that “for His name’s sake” God forgives, has patience with us, helps us when we’ve turned from Him, leads and guides us, and deals with us? He is so so good!
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
