It’s time to share.  Share some photos. Share some bible verses. Share some encouragement.
As you know, I’m doing an in-depth bible study now by Jennifer Rothschild regarding Psalm 23.  Each week Jennifer has us dissect a verse. While focusing on verse two this week, I felt so much comfort.  Comfort in knowing that my God has my back in all situations, and that He is faithful, forgiving, protecting, loving, and so much more!
Psalm 23:2 says, “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
Without talking through the entire study for the week, allow me to share one paragraph from Jennifer that she had written after she had us search safe scriptures and write down their affirmations:

Knowing God will shelter me when I’m in trouble, knowing there are songs of deliverance being sung over me even when I can’t hear them, knowing when it’s dark there is a greater shadow of God’s wings sheltering me, and knowing that when I feel the most helpless my Shepherd is my defender-these kinds of truths give me a sense of rest and assurance when I feel vulnerable.

It is my hope and prayer that you will read through these verses and feel secure in knowing that you can hide in God’s love and protection.

  • He will protect me when I am in danger. He will hide me in his tent. He will take me up to his place of safety.  Psalm 27:5
  • You are a hiding place for me. You protect me from my troubles. You surround me and protect me, so I sing about the way you saved me.  The Lord says, “I will teach you and guide you in the way you should live. I will watch over you and be your guide. Psalm 32:7-8
  • You can go to God Most High to hide. You can go to God All-Powerful for protection. I say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety, my fortress. My God, I trust in you.” God will save you from hidden dangers and from deadly diseases. You can go to him for protection. He will cover you like a bird spreading its wings over its babies. You can trust him to surround and protect you like a shield.  Psalm 91:1-4
  • You have been a safe place for poor people in trouble. You are like a shelter from floods and shade from the heat when powerful men attack. They are like rain streaming down the walls that protect us from the storm.  Isaiah 25:4
  • The only temptations that you have are the same temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • But the Lord is faithful. He will give you strength and protect you from the Evil One.  2 Thessalonians 3:3
  • Be strong and be brave. Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.”  Deuteronomy 31:6
  • Don’t worry—I am with you. Don’t be afraid—I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory.  Isaiah 41:10
  • God is our protection and source of strength. He is always ready to help us in times of trouble.  Psalm 46:1
  • God, be merciful to me. Be kind because my soul trusts in you. I have come to you for protection, while the trouble passes.  Psalm 57:1
  • We pray that God himself, the God of peace, will make you pure—belonging only to him. We pray that your whole self—spirit, soul, and body—will be kept safe and be blameless when our Lord Jesus Christ comes. The one who chose you will do that for you. You can trust him.  1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
  • We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We often don’t know what to do, but we don’t give up. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.  2 Corinthians 4:8-9
  • He is my God, the Rock I run to for protection. He is my shield; by his power I am saved. He is my hiding place, my place of safety, high in the hills. He is my savior, the one who rescues me from the cruel enemy. I called to the Lord for help, and he saved me from my enemies. He is worthy of my praise!  2 Samuel 22:3-4
  • I give my sheep eternal life. They will never die, and no one can take them out of my hand. My Father is the one who gave them to me, and he is greater than all. No one can steal my sheep out of his hand. The Father and I are one.”  John 10:28-30

Now…I’d like to encourage you to either write a few of these down or open your bible and underline/circle/highlight/etc these verses and words that stand out to you.  Believe His word and smile knowing that YOU ARE SAFE.
While studying sheep (us) and The Shepherd my vivid mind couldn’t help but 1) count my blessings and 2) think about on beautiful places I’ve been able to travel to which had sheep prominently in their land. Here are some photos and even a couple of journal entries with more photos and videos from Ireland, New Zealand, and along the Nile River in Egypt: (The featured photo at the top was taken along the shore of the Nile River of a shepherd waiting while his sheep get water.)

I pray you have a peaceful day, and know that no matter what you are going through…God’s got your back.
Blessings to you and yours,
