Today my brother Mike will be our visiting author. He wrote the book, that I recommend, titled My Emmaus, God is faithful 24/7.  This is a letter he wrote for his church’s monthly newsletter:
I know you have heard this statement a thousand times in your life as have I…it’s about time’. I cleaned my room up as a teenager and my mama said…it’s about time’. I finally broke up with a certain girl friend or she broke up with me and somebody somewhere said to us… ‘it’s about time’. I finally sat down to write this article and Brenda said…it’s about time’. You know there really is a lot of laughter and pain wrapped up in these few sentences, but when it is all said and done it really is all about time.
What important project, necessity, or act of obedience have you put off. It may be that such delays don’t just affect you but also those around you. In view of that, and the fact that God has a lot to say about time and its use, let’s look at a couple of verses that are indeed timely.  Ephesians 5:15-16 reads, “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
God truly does want us to make the most of the time that he has allotted us, and there are thousands of applications that can help us make this scripture a reality in our lives. God also wants us to relax, enjoy vacations, and just chill at times as we enjoy our lives. But I must ask this question: what corrections to the use of our time may the Holy Spirit show us as we diligently try to walk in obedience.
Spending time alone with God in prayer and getting into his word will help us find the answer to that question. Being alert to the opportunities that surround us would also prove beneficial. So as my sister Stephanie would say, “let’s walk through life every day wearing our ‘God Goggles’.” Doing so would be most revealing and lead to exceptional opportunities for making the most of our time.
The apostle Paul reveals to us in Ephesians 2:10 that we are God’s workmanship, and we have been created in Christ Jesus for good works.  Good works that God preordained that we should walk in them. If he has prepared them, and he has, then we know that they are also for a given time.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reads, “There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth.”  Today is the right time for something in your life.  Why delay. Start making the most of the time that God has given you. The only lasting joy we will ever know is God’s joy, and it really is ‘about time’ that we experience that joy as we go about our Father’s business.  So enjoy the journey, ‘it’s about time’ we did so.
In Christ Love,
Pastor Mike
