Day 5 of 2020:

(These are just some of the thoughts that run through my head while reading God’s word.)

Genesis 11:1-13:4

*Whew, the genealogy!  My brother Kenneth has researched our family lineage for a while.  I asked him how far back has he been able to go.  He informed me that on one side (the Hunter side) he believes he has traced them back to 800-900 years. What!? Wow!  I think I need him to lay out an ancestry chart for what I just read in Genesis.

*Abram told a half-lie about his wife, Sarai. Half, because Sarai really was his half-sister. This half-lie caused much trouble.  A lie is a lie.  Period.  Tell the truth, and let God take care of the consequences.

Matthew 5:1-26

*The Beatitudes.  Read them.

*Takeaways:  I need Jesus.  When I’m in mourning, God comforts me.  Be humble. Strive to do right.  Be forgiving and gracious. Be authentic and true. Seek and show peace. Man may punish you for doing what is right in God’s sight, but God will reward you.

*Be what Jesus said you were…the light of the world.

*Be great and obey God.

*I totally am borrowing this statement from my study bible commentary:  “Our attitudes toward others reflect our relationship with God.” (1 John 4:20 backs it up)

Psalm 5:1-12

*David talks with God every morning. That’s what prayer is…chatting with God.  Bringing Him request, sharing your heart, being real with God.

*verse 7:  “Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.”  I am constantly in the presence of God.  I pray that my worship is always in complete respect and admiration for my heavenly Daddy.

*verse 8b:  “…make Your way plain for me to follow.” His way is plain, yet we often get blurred by distractions.  I pray for 20/20 vision as I seek God’s way for my life.

Proverbs 1:24-28

*Yikes, I don’t want to become so prideful and selfish that I ignore God. Lord, make me humble and selfless.

Are you reading along with me?  Do you have a word from God to share with me that has impacted you or you gained some wisdom on?
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
