Happy twenty-four years of life to our eldest!!!
Hunter Wayne, you are the apple of my eye. Dad and I are proud of the respectable man you’ve become. You are the life of the party, responsible, and respectful. If anyone were to look at the photos of your life, they could observe that you love to hunt, fish, and have a good time.
I’ll never forget the words you type as a eulogy to grandaddy. You wrote from your heart and with conviction. In it you said, “I promise you I will live out the life you wanted me to…This isn’t goodbye forever, I’ll have more stories to tell you when I see you in heaven.” Above all else, your G-daddy wanted you to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
This morning, while reading-through-the-bible-in-a-year, I read each verse with you in mind. I want to encourage you to read these thoughts from my heart as I intentionally focused on you and God. Speaking of intentional, be intentional in life and your walk with God.
WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOU HUNTER WAYNE SHUFF!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Day 20 of march 2020:
NUMBERS 30:1-31:54
- Be a man of your word. Trust is important in any relationship…with God and with others.
- In my study bible, the commentary says, “Young people still living at home should seek their parents’ help when they make decisions. A parent’s experience could save a child from a serious mistake. Parents, however, should exercise their authority with caution and grace. They should let children learn from their mistakes while protecting them from disaster.” No matter where you are living, you know that dad and I are here for you. Mistakes will be made, but hopefully you will be prayerful about your choices, learn from other’s mistakes so you down have to go down the same road, and learn from the mistakes you have/will make.
- Life happens. Tough times will come. Praise God for getting your through those times. He never left you.
LUKE 4:1-30
- Whew! Hunter, in life, at any age and any stage, Satan is there to tempt you. He knows God’s word and can twist it to convince you his way. I pray that you will dive into God’s word and use it against Satan. In Ephesians 6:17 it says how God’s word is the sword of the Spirit. Come on now, you love to hunt, so a tool like this isn’t unknown to you. Grab that sword and use it. Use God’s word to guard your heart and protect you against the devil’s schemes.
PSALM 63:1-11
- When I read these words I just can’t help but feel God’s love, protection, and joy.
- Hunter, I pray that you will thirst for God and earnestly seek Him. See that word earnestly? Earnestly means with sincere and intense conviction; seriously. Oh how I desire for you to wake each morning and earnestly seek God’s will for your life.
- You are always the life of the party and have an infectious personality that draws people to you. Just remember that in verse 3 here it says that God’s unfailing love is better than life itself. Being the life of the party is fun and often full of laughs…yet God’s bottomless/eternal/loyal love is better than anything. Speaking of loyal…you are loyal in your relationships. I pray that more than any relationship you have on earth, your relationship with Jesus will be true and constant. As David says in these verses, cling to God (He’s got a you), and meditate on His goodness.
PROVERBS 11:20-21
- Hunter, when I read the word integrity I always think of your dad. In these verses it says how God delights in those with integrity. I pray that you will always do the right thing even when no one is looking. Don’t have the crooked heart that the Lord detests. People always tell us how respectful and responsible you are. That makes your dad and I smile with humbled pride. Keep it up.
I hope you all got a little something out of Hunter’s birthday reading. God is good. Stick with Him.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
