I went to rest for thirty minutes. When my head hit the pillow the song, “He’s got the whole world in His hands” rang through my mind. I haven’t sung that song in many many years. I had no idea why it came to my mind…but God did. When I sang the words in my mind, it was as if God whispered, “All this physical distancing and mask-wearing doesn’t affect Me. I’ve got the whole world in My hands. Take comfort in my touch.”
Friend, He is holding you. Do as He whispered to me and take comfort in His touch.
Here are some bible verses to remind you of His closeness:
When you are a child of God, you are in the palm of God’s hand. He is not letting go.
My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give my sheep eternal life. They will never die, and no one can take them out of my hand. My Father is the one who gave them to me, and he is greater than all. No one can steal my sheep out of his hand. The Father and I are one.” John 10:27-30
God is holding onto you with His right hand. There will be victory when you walk with God.
Don’t worry, I am with you. Don’t be afraid, I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory. Isaiah 41:10
How can I not include Psalm 23?! No matter what you are going through in life, the Lord is tucking you in for rest, and leading and guiding you along life’s paths. He is making sure you have all you need and caressing your head. God is all about touching and having a close relationship.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:1-6
God doesn’t need a mask. His breath is on every page of the Bible. You don’t want a mask when reading His word. You want to inhale every bit of God’s wisdom and love that He has breathed on each page.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
God is not the god of fear. That’s the devil’s deal. God is of complete love. He doesn’t want you to be afraid. He will be with you every step of the way, until the end of time.
The Lord will lead you. He himself is with you. He will not fail you or leave you. Don’t worry. Don’t be afraid!” Deuteronomy 31:8
Be strong and be brave. Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.” Matthew 28:20
The Lord will not leave his people. He will not leave them without help. Psalm 94:14
The Lord is with me, so I will not be afraid. No one on earth can do anything to harm me. Psalm 118:6
Do you see how the Coronavirus doesn’t affect God’s touch? You can fist-bump, high-five, air-hug, and wave all you want with God, but He really wants you to take comfort in holding His hand and curling up into His arms.
If you want to FaceTime your Heavenly Father, open up the Bible and read it. Chat it up with the Lord throughout your day, He’s right there.
This whole season in life didn’t take God by surprise. He just may be desiring you to get close to Him while you are having to physical distance yourself from others.
