HAPPY EASTER, y’all!!
Today is the most important Christian holiday. Jesus rose from the grave and is alive!
Enjoy this story of Easter using the Resurrection Eggs:
- Some of the people were walking ahead of Jesus. Others were walking behind him. They all shouted, “Praise to the Son of David! ‘Welcome! God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Praise to God in heaven!” Matthew 21:9
- Then one of the twelve followers went to talk to the leading priests. This was the follower named Judas Iscariot. He said, “I will hand Jesus over to you. What will you pay me for doing this?” The priests gave him 30 silver coins. After that Judas waited for the best time to hand Jesus over to them. Matthew 26:14-16
- While they were eating, Jesus took some bread and thanked God for it. He broke off some pieces, gave them to his followers and said, “Take this bread and eat it. It is my body.” Then he took a cup of wine, thanked God for it, and gave it to them. He said, “Each one of you drink some of it. This wine is my blood, which will be poured out to forgive the sins of many and begin the new agreement from God to his people. Matthew 26:26-28
- Then Jesus went on a little farther away from them. He fell to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, don’t make me drink from this cup. But do what you want, not what I want.” Matthew 26:39
- Pilate wanted to please the people, so he set Barabbas free for them. And he told the soldiers to beat Jesus with whips. Then he handed him over to the soldiers to be killed on a cross. Mark 15:15
- Then they made a crown from thorny branches and put it on his head, and they put a stick in his right hand. Then they bowed before him, making fun of him. They said, “We salute you, king of the Jews!” Matthew 27:29
- After they finished making fun of him, the soldiers took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be killed on a cross. Matthew 27:31
- The soldiers nailed Jesus to a cross. Then they threw dice to divide his clothes between them. Matthew 27:35
- But one of the soldiers stuck his spear into Jesus’ side. Immediately blood and water came out. John 19:34
- Then Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a new linen cloth. Matthew 27:59
- So they all went to the tomb and made it safe from thieves. They did this by sealing the stone in the entrance and putting soldiers there to guard it. Matthew 27:66
- The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus, the one who was killed on the cross. But he is not here. He has risen from death, as he said he would. Come and see the place where his body was. Matthew 28:5-6
