Serve only the Lord your God and fear Him alone. Obey His commands, listen to His voice, and cling to Him.  Deuteronomy 13:4 NLT
When I read this bible verse this morning, I couldn’t help but be overcome with gratefulness to my Heavenly Father.   The words “cling to Him” clung to me.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clung to Jesus and His word.  When you have a relationship with  Jesus, He has a hold of you, and He is not letting go.  Reading the precious words from the Bible brings a comfort and peace that is unexplainable.
I want to remind you that no matter want you are going through, CLING TO HIM.
On a nerdy number side…we are told to do five things within these twenty-one words:  serve, fear (which is respect), obey, listen, and cling.  Who are we supposed to do this to?  Six times it tells us (Lord, God, Him, His, His, and Him)…the Lord.
Serve God:

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,  Colossians 3:23 NASB

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,  Ephesians 6:7

Fear God:

Knowledge begins with fear and respect for the Lord, but stubborn fools hate wisdom and refuse to learn.  Proverbs 1:7 ERV

Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him.  Psalm 33:8 NLT

Obey God:

The Lord your God will delight in you if you obey his voice and keep the commands and decrees written in this Book of Instruction, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.  Deuteronomy 30:10 NLT

Surely you know that you become the slaves of whatever you give yourselves to. Anything or anyone you follow will be your master. You can follow sin, or you can obey God. Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him.  Romans 6:16 ERV

Listen to God:

My son, pay attention to what I say. Remember my commands. Listen to wisdom, and do your best to understand. Ask for good judgment. Cry out for understanding. Look for wisdom like silver. Search for it like hidden treasure. If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the Lord, and you will come to know God.  Proverbs 2:1-5 ERV

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,  John 10:27-28 NLT

Cling to God:

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”  Psalm 91:14 MSG

I want to encourage  you to do these five instructions and feel God washing over you and guiding you along life’s path.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
