I wasn’t going to go on the very first day, but after fasting for your morning blood work, and your nurse wants a Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit at Plant City’s new location…let’s just say it was worth it!
The night before the grand opening my precious friend, Christine, invited me to go to Chick-fil-A for prayer and dinner. Of course I would go! Prayer and “Jesus-chicken”…count me in!
The restaurant was buzzing with Chick-fil-A employees, their families, and a handful of city officials. Worship music was beautifully sung and invited the Holy Spirit to join us, two pastors brought the word, the new owner (Dawn Redmon) shared her heart, and Fred’s Market Restaurant provided the food. Yes, you read that correctly…Fred’s catered the Chick-fil-A event. That’s how Plant City rolls…it’s a community thing. Chick-fil-A did provide their macaroni-n-cheese, cookies and brownies, and drinks. I guess they were saving the “Jesus-chicken” for the grand opening day, and I’m sure to honor the
employees without getting the aroma of peanut oil on themselves.
Speaking of peanut oil, before we enjoyed some good ole BBQ, we got to dip our finger in the peanut “holy” oil then walk around and through the new establishment to pray.
Who would have thought that attending a Chick-fil-A pre-grand opening would bring tears to my eyes. Y’all we had church at 1101 Goldfinch Drive in Plant City!
What a precious evening.
When you go, and you will, you’ll notice that this location is piloting a new program of how they distribute their drive-thru. There’s no window, only smiling greeters. The adorable employee who took my order recognized me as her 6th grade math teacher. Then, when I was given my food, another lovely young lady said, “Are you Mrs. Shuff, who worked at Tomlin?” I laughed, said yes, and asked if I taught her as well. I didn’t, but she remembered me. The friendly service I received wasn’t because of any past association. Everyone will be taken care of with a friendly attitude and a servant’s heart.
I know I don’t have to convince you to go to Chick-fil-A, God will lead you there (wink), but just know that when you do go, and your car is barely off the main road due to the long car line, it moves quickly and efficiently.
Go get you Jesus-chicken…after your doctor’s visit. Just sayin’.
Blessing to you and yours,
Stephanie
Dawn’s verse:
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
Amen and AMEN!
