Tiny yellow -crested birds were gathering food from the ground.

Woodpeckers were tapping a rhythm on the tall oak trees.

A bird was flapping its wings in the sunlight as if it was dancing with the sun’s rays.

Squirrels were scurrying around and wrestling with the leaves that crackled beneath them. I’d watch them hold a tasty treat and twitch their tails in curious delight.

The sun was beginning to set across the lake.

The sound of a beaver’s tail echoed across the water and through the trees.

A hoot owl was calling in the distance to another of its kind, as the one further away would respond to the call.

A whippoorwill whistled a sweet melody as if telling all God’s creatures that it had been a good day.

These were the sights and sounds I observed while sitting in a tree stand high above the ground.

Ahhh, the peace of being in nature.

If you want to block out all the busyness in life and have a peaceful conversation with God, get out in nature.

God and I chatted about the future, my children, health, and all sorts of concerns and thoughts. He listened. I’m listening.

Thank You, Lord, for Your love, peace, and comfort. Thank You for always being here for me.

The night sky was closing in, and the critters were still scurrying in the woods. Thunderous chirps from crickets’ wings intensified as the sun set. The reverberation of a flock of ducks taking flight from the lake was powerful. My prey of choice did not appear, but this doesn’t mean it was not a successful hunt. My hunt for time with my Jesus was a success. God is good, y’all. God is great!

Take time to be still and know.

Do you know Him or just know about Him? I pray that you will begin the new year, begin now, to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
