It had been a while since I actually sat in front of my prayer wall to see each name and concern written in chalk. Praying for those written on the wall are often on the forefront of my thoughts, but intentionally following up on their situation…that was lacking.
The floors were getting vacuumed when I felt a strong nudge to go into the study, close the door, and sit in front of the requests. So, I turned off the vacuum and I obeyed the mental prod. Reading each name and concern aloud and turning it into a prayer made my prayer time more devoted to my family member or friend, and to the intent of praying. After each prayer, a follow-up text was sent to see how the requester was doing. Y’all! It thrilled my soul to hear their reports. Prayers had been answered, some were continual requests, and others saw breakthroughs in their circumstance.
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” Matthew 6:6 (Jesus said this!)
I share this with you for a few reasons to encourage you to:
- Pray
- Pray for others
- Write it down (a journal, a wall, a sticky note affixed to a mirror, etc.)
- Be intentional in your prayers
- Follow up with how things are going
I want to inspire you to talk to God throughout your day. He is always there with you. He’d love for you to include Him in each step of your life.
Always be full of joy. Never stop praying. Whatever happens, always be thankful. This is how God wants you to live in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
Our country, our world, needs so much prayer. Will you commit to praying for a specific state or government official, or cause each day? Christians are getting attacked. Our faith is being tested. Stand up for God. Don’t be ashamed of Him or your belief. Be intentional.
