Bending my knees to bend God’s ear was in need.
The morning started out with heavy news that required much petitioning to God. Then, within a few minutes of the first request, one more text and a phone call came my way with more burdens. I went into my study, closed the chalkboard door that listed more needs, and bent down with my face resting on a pillow.
During those minutes crying out to God, there were moments when the Holy Spirit had to intercede for me.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26-27
Praying for healing in the lives of others. Praying for spiritual revival. Praying for the bondage of addictions to be broken. Praying for a miracle. Praying for God’s will in and through it all. Even when I couldn’t formulate the words to say, I simply cried and sighed and visualized the Holy Spirit intervening on my behalf.
As I lifted my head from the tear-stained pillow, I breathed a deep sigh…A sigh of comfort knowing that God has a plan and a purpose. A sigh of relief knowing that the Lord hears my prayers. A sigh of strength knowing that God will take those burdens and give grace. A sigh of peace knowing that Jesus is working all things together for the good of those who love Him.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Throughout the rest of the day, glimpses of praises to petitions were noted. I would embrace each good news with a “Thank You, Jesus.” As I am typing this now, I just received an answered prayer text from a mother regarding her son. God is good! All the time!
Y’all, troubles and trials will come our way. Guaranteed. Our prayers may not be answered the way we think they should, but God is answering. He may answer with a yes, no, or not yet, but He will be with you through the fire. Please remember that during those seasons, God’s timing is not our timing. We want His will more than ours because His plan and purpose is much greater. Find ways to glorify Him through it all. Pray without ceasing, no matter how long the season may last. Never give up!
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like yours. Your ways are not like mine. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
We must not get tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up. Galatians 6:9
Do you need to bend your knee to bend God’s ear? He’s waiting.
