My husband is always full of devotional ideas. We will find ourselves in a situation, and he’ll say, “you can make a devotional out of this.” I appreciate his confidence in my ability. I told him he should just be a guest writer for me sometime. Agree?
Well, this morning was one of those “you can make a devotional out of this” moments.
We’ve been watching this certain buck up at the hunting camp for quite some time. The weekend before Thanksgiving, after watching the game cameras from afar all week and learning the time of the deer’s movement, we sat five different times in a stand where this buck had been frequenting. Nothing! Well, one night he came fifteen minutes after dark and it was too late to harvest him. You see, this buck is a unique looking one. The first time I saw his unusual rack, I told Tim, “I think he has my name on him. He is perfectly imperfect.” So, after five sits with no luck, I mentioned, “You know, God may just be saying, ‘Stephanie, you want that perfectly imperfect deer, but I have the perfect one for you.’” My perspective was altered and I was ready for whatever came my way for my first buck.
Over the past few days, we’ve been monitoring this buck’s movements again. The alarm went off at 5:30 on this snuggly low fifty degrees morning. I had FINALLY just gotten to sleep because someone was snoring all night. Tim and I both rose from bed and put on our hunting clothes. It was almost time for us to head out the door, when I heard Tim say, “Are you kidding me?” I could sense the disappointment in his tone.
Guess who decided to make his appearance super early? My perfectly imperfect deer must have heard our alarm go off and think that was his cue to have breakfast.
Again, perspective…now I can sleep.
There may be something you desire in life, but God may have other plans. You may be making plans and patiently waiting for the right time. His plans may be something different, or just not at this time. One thing I know for sure, His plans and timing are best. So while you wait for that desire…a relationship, a job, any situation…change your perspective and know that God’s got this.
There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
