In Luke 19:11-27 Jesus tells a story relating to what we, as believers, are to do between His departure and His Second Coming.

I’ve read these verses in three translations and read three different commentaries to see consensus. In short…Christ has given us a job to do and we need to do it. What is that job? To share the gospel with others, to use what God gives you.

When you accept Christ as your personal Savior and believe in Him, you are given spiritual gifts. What you do with those gifts make a difference.

Out of the three servants illustrated in these verses, one servant chose to do nothing with his gift. In summation, the phrase “use it or lose it” comes to my mind. One servant had the “all that and a bag of chips” mentality. He was rewarded greatly and then some. He even heard the words from the master, “Well done! You are a good servant.” Those are the words I pray I hear when I enter my eternal home.

Dr. Tony Evans writes in his commentary, “Everything we have is a gift from God. We must recognize that we are stewards of our resources, not owners. God will call us to give an account for how we have managed our money, our possessions, our spiritual gifts, our relationships, and our time – and will reward or judge his people accordingly.” He sums up these verses by saying, “Don’t miss out on the eternal rewards that God has for faithful stewards who manage well what He has given them. Faithfulness results in kingdom reward; unfaithfulness results in lack and loss of reward. But worst of all are the consequences that await those who make themselves God’s enemies. These will experience eternal judgment.”

Back in November 2020 I had written a journal entry titled “What must we do in the waiting”. Click here to read In this entry are listed things that answered the question: What must we do in the waiting for a pandemic to come to an end, and presidential results to become final? I believe this list of ideas, with bible verses, just may help you get started in making the most of your time while we wait on Christ Second Coming.

He IS coming back! Are you ready? Are you a believer in Jesus Christ? I pray you are.

I want to encourage you to have the “all that and a bag of chips” mentality and be the light to others around you. Share God’s love wherever you are.

Blessings to you and your,

Stephanie
