Don’t let others hush you when crying out to Jesus.

As Jesus and the disciples left the town of Jericho, a large crowd followed behind. Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” “Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” they said, “we want to see!” Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him. Matthew 20:29-34

My thought breakdown:

V 30: Although these beggars couldn’t see physically, they could see (by faith) that Jesus was the Son of David who they learned about in books of Isaiah and Jeremiah.

V 31: Don’t let others quiet you from calling out to Jesus. Pursue Him. When you encounter Christ, follow Him more intently and grow your faith in Him.  From Gotquestions.org, a brief biblical definition of mercy is “the gift of God’s undeserved kindness and compassion.”

I found some real life examples of mercy being shown. Check them out:  https://mindsetopia.com/inspiring-stories-of-mercy/

V 32: Jesus loves asking questions to us when He already knows the answer. I believe He wants us to hear our request out loud to make it more real and it even makes us think it through more carefully.

V 33: These two men’s request was evident to all. It appears that their request was not a spiritual one because they already proclaimed Christ as the Son of David, The Messiah. Their physical request should be a spiritual one for all of us. “Lord, I want to see!”  Be specific in your requests to Jesus. He’s listening.

V 34: Jesus Christ is compassionate and loving. He displayed His compassion on the men by healing them of their sight. They joined the crowd and began to follow Him. We need to follow Christ.

What do you need to cry out to Jesus for? Bring your request to Him. He is waiting, listening, and willing. May His will be done. No matter the size of your request, He wants to hear. Just remember…He may or may not answer it the way you are thinking.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Prayer:  Dear Lord, I pray that whomever is reading this will know that they can cry out to You with any and all requests. Give them the boldness to hush the noise around them and to bring you their troubles and trials. You are full of mercy and compassion. Thank you! And, thank You for hearing us when we call out to you. I love You, Lord. Amen

Cry out to Him!

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
