Thoughts while reading Micah chapter 6:

Christians who get comfortable in the world and dwindle from their relationship with the Lord, are like the Israelites we read about throughout the Old Testament. (To refresh your memory, just read several examples in Exodus and Numbers.) You begin to take God for granted and only want to include Him when it is convenient for you. Don’t you think God is saddened by this? He’s not surprised, but will question you to make you think. The Lord asked Israel, “What have I done to you? What have I done to make you tired of me?” After asking, He proceeded to remind them of a few things He’s done for them. Do you need reminding? Take a moment and reflect back at what all the Lord has done for you. I bet He has gotten you through much more than you can recollect.

Having a relationship with the Lord doesn’t require you to do anything to earn His love. Being a Christian isn’t a “to-do” list, it is more like an “I get to” way of life. What does the Lord desire for you is to do what is right (act justly, be fair to others), love mercy (Love kindness and loyalty), and walk humbly (humbly obey) with the Lord.

We can look to Deuteronomy 10:12-13 to validate Micah 6:8, “...respect him and do what he says. He wants you to love him and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul….these laws and commands are for your own good.” So for your own good, live for God, not the world.

Friend, I know I have had times when I allowed the ways of the world to supersede Jesus as a priority in my life. Without cessation, those chapters in my life were abounding with heartache. Turning the page to a new chapter with Christ was refreshing and lavished with peace and love and clarity and forgiveness and oh my I could go on. Is it time for you to turn the page and begin a new chapter with Jesus?

I pray that you don’t get tired of God and give consent to the ways of the world. His ways are always better.

  • For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
  • And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
  • “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
  •  My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
  • Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie

As I typed the words “Are you tired of God?” I couldn’t help but begin counting my blessings and simply look around me to see His goodness. Put your God-goggles on and see the GoODness in life.
