My children laughed at me because of the condition of my bible.
While reading God’s word, I have a tendency of underlining as I read. When a word or phrase jumps out at me, those kangaroo words will get circled or boxed or double underlined. Some sections of my bible do look like the ink pen exploded on the page.
Each Christmas a family member or two have the responsibility of reading aloud from Luke chapter two. Last Christmas Cole and Emma were the readers. Holly got my bible and they all three looked at the markings on the page. They didn’t laugh so much at my passion for reading, yet when they had to read aloud from it, it was a wee difficult to read through some of those momma-made-markings.
Psalm 119:11 says:
I have taken Your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. (AMP)
I inherited your book on living; it’s mine forever, what a gift! And how happy it makes me! (MSG)
Those God-breathed-words do make me happy. They are a gift and the joy of my heart.
“Mark your bible, and let it mark you.” Those words were spoken by my former pastor, Michael Lewis (click here to take a look at this sweet story about marking your bible: https://soakinguptheson.com/2017/12/how-are-you-marked/ ). Maybe one day, a family member will inherit my bibles, like I did those in the “How are you marked” journal entry, and smile, maybe even laugh as they remember me and those momma-made-markings.
It is my prayer that my life will be marked by and with God’s precious words all over me. May others be able to see and read the love of Jesus flowing from my words and actions.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
