“You are God’s dear children, so try to be like Him. Live a life of love. Love others just as Christ loved us. He gave Himself for us—a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.”  Ephesians 5:1-2
A few reminders:

  • *I often tell my own children, before they adventure off somewhere, “Remember who you are and Whose you are.” These words remind us that we are children of God. They represent not just our family and themselves, but God.
  • *The second part of verse one doesn’t tell us to “be Him”. No, it tells us to try to “be like Him”.   Here are a plethora of bible verses reminding us how to be like Christ that I found on openbible.com. Go, be more like Christ.
  • *Can you imagine if our world lived a life of love? Wow! Our world is full of hatred and bitterness, but there is a lot of love and graciousness being paraded around by folks as well. Which do you choose? I choose love. Life is too short to live any other way. And don’t just love, love others just as Christ loved us. I like how the Message translation pens verse two: “Keep company with God and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of Himself to us. Love like that.” Love like Jesus loves. Love extravagantly! Love selflessly.
