Former Strawberry Queen and dear friend…Pam! Thanks for being my guest appearance on”Minute-less Mo day”! You were awesome!

Parades.

You often see children waving their hands excitedly awaiting beads to be thrown or candy to be tossed.  Spectators of all ages waving to the parade participators, and all standing as the American flag passes by.
Today, the streets were filled with exhilaration (or exhaustion for walking the payment) as our town enjoyed the parade in commemorating The Florida Strawberry Festival.  This is an event that I’ve either participated in or watched my entire life.  Why?  It is a tradition.
Parades have been a tradition for thousands of years.
Seriously!
The story of King David parading through the town is the first story that comes to my mind.

…David and all the people of Israel were celebrating before the Lord, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments—lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals. (verse 5)…Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets. (verses 14 and 15)…2 Samuel 6

(OH, you MUST read this story and dig deep into God’s word to study those meanings and insights we often forget.  Hmmm…maybe that will be a journal entry this week.  Yep.  Come back this week for some insight I took away from this chapter.  Good stuff!)

Can you just imagine it?  ALL the people of Israel were celebrating before the LORD.  King David and his posse were parading down the streets with instruments.  How can you NOT have a parade without a marching band?  Duh!  Onlookers were probably waving with excitement, and standing as the Ark of the LORD passed by.
There wasn’t just one parade in chapter six, but two!  (THAT insight is what I’ll share later.)
We, Christians, are partakers of a marching band, and God is our drum major.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.  2 Corinthians 2:14

Notice that He ALWAYS leads us in Christ’s VICTORIOUS procession. That’s right…He leads, we follow/obey, and glory reigns.
Just as one can’t help but have some groove in them when those high school bands march the streets in hometown parades…spreading a little joy to those parade observers…God uses US to share His love with others.
March with a purpose…Bring joy to someone today by marching to the beat of God’s drum.
One day…we will be marching those Streets of Gold! Are you Heaven bound?  I sure hope so.
Have a beautiful and upbeat day!
