Well, I’m a little late in starting this for the new year, but better late than never.
Last year I wrote a journal entry titled, Christmas Cards…Praying Cards. Tim and I are continuing our new tradition with praying for two families each day by randomly drawing two Christmas cards from the basket that sits upon my desk, and praying specifically for those families throughout the day.
Then, on January 10th of 2015 I shared how my Prayer Postcards came in that I had created and ordered. I was so excited that when I received that little package in the mail. After praying for each family and having precious memories flood my thoughts as to how we know them, (oh, the smile that comes across my face with each during those remembrances)I would pen a little diddy on the postcard and mail it to them to let them know that they were prayed for that day.
The response was priceless. I even had people send me messages, texts, and thank you cards saying they prayed for my family when they received the postcard and how much they appreciated knowing that someone prayed just for them. Some even informed me that the day their name was drawn for prayer was perfect timing because of an incident that was taking place in their lives at that moment.
Here’s a funny thing…one of the families that I drew last year on day one were drawn again first. Ford family, you start my year of praying through my Christmas cars off with fond memories and happiness. Many blessings to you and yours!
Prayer is powerful, my friend!
Here are some bible verses on the power of prayer:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!” Psalm 107:28-30
“Jesus answered, “That kind of spirit can be forced out only with prayer.” Mark 9:29
“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:24-25
“Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God’s people.” Ephesians 6:18
So take note for when you pray:
- Have your heart right with Jesus.
- Forgive others and ask for forgiveness yourself.
- Be sincere. God sees and knows your heart.
- Don’t stop praying!
- Believe
- Wait for God to answer. His time is different than ours, but always perfect.
- Have faith.
- Get ready…the “yes” or “no” answer will be right and powerful and life-changing.
Hey, do you want to be added to my prayer list? It’s not too late! Send me your address and a message/comment/card (whatever ad however) and you and yours will be in the basket too. Woohoo!
I pray that you will enjoy soaking up The Son every moment of each day. –Stephanie
