The Lord saves those who are good.  When they have troubles, He is their strength.  Psalm 37:39
Are you in need of a rescue?
The word, rescue, seems to be a reoccurring theme over the past couple of days for me.  The preacher mentioned how we are all in need of a rescue throughout his sermon.  When I went to workout, the song “Rescue Me” by Fontella Bass, was playing on the motivational playlist.  One of my dear friends and I had a conversation about how they were just recently rescued from a lifestyle choice that was leading down the wrong path for their life and their family’s as well.  Rescue!  (Someone needs to see this today.)
Again, I ask, are you in need of a rescue?
Maybe you need (even without knowing it) rescuing from some type of -holic:

  • Alcoholic
  • Workaholic
  • Nonworkaholic
  • Foodoholic
  • Shopaholic
  • Social mediaoholic
  • Moneyholic
  • Flirtaholic
  • Pornoholic
  • Gossipaholic
  • Exerciseoholic
  • You-name-it-holic

You get the picture…fill in the blank of what you struggle with, what habit is causing friction between you and your loved ones, or really…what is drowning you.   _______holic.
Listen, you are not alone!  Remember the parable Jesus told in Luke 15: 3-7?
Then Jesus told them this story: “Suppose one of you has 100 sheep, but one of them gets lost.  What will you do?  You will leave the other 99 sheep there in the field and go out and look for the lost sheep.  You will continue to search for it until you find it.  And when you find it, you will be very happy.  You will carry it home, go to your friends and neighbors and say to the, ‘Be happy with me because I found my lost sheep!’  In the same way, I tell you, heaven is a happy place when one sinner decides to change.  There is more joy for that one sinner than for 99 good people who don’t need to change.”
Jesus will relentlessly pursue you.  He delights in you!  He is the ultimate search and rescue team. (I just envisioned The Trinity on a mission to rescue you.  What a powerful image to reflect on! The Justice League ain’t got nothing on The Trinity!)
I want to encourage you to seek God.  Seek God with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).  Deuteronomy 4:29b says that “if you look for Him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him.” He is pursuing you.  You need chase Him down as well. (BTW, He will let you catch Him.  He’s easy to find.)
The Lord says, “If someone trust me, I will save them.  I will protect my followers who call to me for help.  When my followers call to me, I will answer them.  I will be with them when they are in trouble.  I will rescue them and honor them.  I will give my followers a long life and show them my power to save.”  Psalm 91:14-16
Sweet one, I pray that you will take a good look at yourself, see what you need God to rescue you from, and trust in Him to save you.  Christ will turn your test into testimonies.
I’m reminded of Natalie Grant’s song, “More Than Anything”. The chorus reads:
Help me want to Healer more than the healing. Help me want the Savior more than the saving.  Help me want the Giver more than the giving.  Oh, help me want You, Jesus, more than anything.
Oh, dear friend, yes! More than anything, any -holic, or anyone…want Jesus.
I pray that you will want the Rescuer more than the rescuing.  When you do…you WILL be rescued! Glory!
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
