A loved one is dying. You know the time is coming, and you want to spend as much time with them as possible. People may approach you and say, “Any time now.” But you hush them as if you try to hold the reality from happening.
This is somewhat the scene in today’s reading in 1 Kings 2-3. Elijah was about to be taken up. People kept coming up to Elisha, Elijah’s protégé, and saying, “Did you know that God is going to take your master away from you today?” Each of the times mentioned, Elisha would say, “Yes, I know. Don’t talk about it.” (verses 3 and 5)
It was as if Elisha was trying to savor each moment and keep learning from his mentor.
We should do the same. Savor each moment. Live, love, and cherish each day and your loved ones.
Keep learning and keep loving.
Blessings to you today.
