Calling all prayers warriors:
On Wednesday evening, September 16, 2020, a brave, athletic, beautiful, free-spirited, and kind young woman began an adventure she, nor her family, ever desired to go on. While skateboarding with her college friends, she was involved in an accident. Lindsey Bowden, a 20 year old student-athlete at Lees-McRae College, had a serious head injury.
When her parents received the phone call at midnight, that no parent wants to receive, Charlie and Leecy drove 650 miles to reach their little girl. A parent’s worst nightmare was being lived. Questions, anxiety, “how”, fear, etc..
Since that day, Lindsey has had two surgeries to release pressure on the brain, and is in a medically induced coma. The first of this coming week, the doctors will slowly reduce the meds for Lindsey to begin waking on her own.
Once Lindsey is stable, she will be moved to Shepherds in Atlanta.
In communication with Leecy, the words that keep being repeated are, “I’m scared”, “SHE IS ALIVE!”, and “pray”.
In the Bible the phrase “do not be afraid” is written 365 times. That’s one for each day of the year! Although we read and hear those words from God, and know that His world is true, it’s hard for a parent not to be afraid. Yet, during this time, during hard times in our own lives, we need to speak this truth into ourselves each day.
Don’t worry—I am with you. Don’t be afraid—I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory. Isaiah 41:10 ERV
Both Charlie and Leecy are very private people, but this is the time they are calling out for all to know what’s going on in their lives and are asking/begging/pleading for prayer.
“Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Leecy, Charlie, Lindsey, Bailey, and the rest of the family, please know that prayers will not stop.
God is the Great Physician. I pray that His hands will be guiding the doctors and nurses who are dealing with Lindsey.
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT
God is with the Bowden family. I pray that they will feel God’s companionship with them as He holds them up during this season.
Tonight will be another emotional night. Leecy and precious friends are driving back to Lindsey’s college to pack up her room and get her car. The college will be hosting a candlelight service in honor of Lindsey.
Lindsey continues to be a fighter, and the doctors are even amazed at her progress. Prayers are felt and greatly appreciated.
Will you join me in praying for Lindsey and her family?
Please share Lindsey’s name with any prayer groups you’re in, your church, family and friends. Leecy knows that the more people praying the better
Thank you so much!
