While walking down our country road we are often going to see a hawk or two if not more. When I saw this one hawk take flight from the electric line, and through the pine forest, I observed his movements. He rapidly and with purpose flapped his wings, then glided a bit before having to lift up for more speed and begin to flap its wings again.
This scene reminded me when one becomes a new Christian they excitedly get into their new Christ-like life and are hungry for God’s word. Then, there comes a time of gliding. Whether that meant they are just going with the motions or enjoying a time of resting in Him, or feeling a little down, it’s time to lift up.
When you find yourself in a time of gliding through your life with Christ, look up for a lift up. The Lord will rejuvenate you and get your wings flapping again.
We have sufferings now, but these are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us. Romans 8:18 ERV
You may feel that your time of gliding is a season of a downward flight, but hang on. Remind yourself of the glory that is to come through Jesus Christ.
When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy. Psalm 94:19 HCSB
Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
During that time of gliding, it may be a season of difficulty and whittled with worry. Friend, God will comfort you. He cares for you When He does, embrace the joy that comes in the morning.
Depend on the Lord. Trust in Him, and He will help you. Psalm 37:5 ERV
No matter what your gliding season is, depend on and trust in Him. He will carry you under His wings.
You can go to him for protection. He will cover you like a bird spreading its wings over its babies. You can trust him to surround and protect you like a shield. Psalm 91:4 ERV
I want to encourage you to flap away with purpose in life…life in Christ. Alway look up to Him, especially when you need a lift up.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
