But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people who are like these children.”  Matthew 19:14 ERV
Oh how precious little children are!
Yesterday I was riding in my niece, Calli’s, vehicle, sitting between her two bundles of joy.  And oh what joy these boys brought to me while we were driving down the road.
You see, this past week was VBS (Vacation Bible School) at the church Calli grew up in, and the church I grew up in as well, Welcome Baptist Church.  When we got into the car, Wes (3 ½ years old) said with much enthusiasm, “Mom, turn on the VBS songs!” Wayne (1 year and 7 months) wasn’t quite awake from his afternoon nap, and he sat silent in his car seat with a cookie and milk.  Once the music started playing over the speaker, Wes was vivaciously singing and commanding  “Aunt Stephanie, sing and do the motions!”  I had never heard the song before, but my wonderful music instructor (Wes) would sing with such pronunciation and delight that I quickly picked up the words and motions and began to sing too. He would continuously look at me to make sure I could understand every word he was singing.  It only took one song before Wayne started chiming in with his arms motioning the movements to the songs as well.  They may have only had three days of VBS, but it was the beginning to a life living passionately for Christ.
When I read my bible verse this morning from Matthew 19:14, I couldn’t help but smile and think of our concert in the backseat of Calli’s car.
Y’all, Jesus loves the little children, and He loves you too!  In the verse prior to today’s reading it tells how the parents were bringing their children to Jesus so that He could lay His hands on them to bless them and pray for them.  I can only imagine waiting in line for my child to sit in Jesus’ lap to be prayed over.  Oh what a sight!  He’s not Santa.  Oh no!  He’s The One who gives the best gifts.  The greatest gift He offers is one of eternal life.  Glory!

Then the people brought their little children to Jesus so that he could lay his hands on them to bless them and pray for them. When the followers saw this, they told the people to stop bringing their children to him. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people who are like these children.” After Jesus blessed the children, he left there.  Matthew 19:13-15 ERV

Jesus wants the children to come to Him, and He wants you to be willing and humble yourself like a child and come to Him too.  He will bless your socks off!
I pray that you will be as enthusiastic about Christ as Wes and Wayne are.  May you be the light in this world that will shine bright for Jesus.  Come to Him.  God’s hands are big enough to hold us all.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie

Note…Y’all, I am so ridiculously proud of my nieces and nephews and how they are bringing up their babies to love Jesus with all their hearts.  I may be a bit bias, but I have the most compassionate and Jesus-loving greats.  Great aunt NiNi is so filled with joy for them!
