The more time you spend with someone, the closer your relationship becomes.
This holds true with our earthly relationships and with our kinship with Christ.
Lately, my daughter Holly and I have started little Monday adventures. These adventures may take a tank full or could be a simple drive downtown much like this week.
This past Monday we participated in a free scavenger hunt in our hometown of Plant City. You begin your adventure at the Willaford Railroad Museum, scan your free map with clues to follow, and galavant through McCall Park and the streets of downtown Plant City searching for hidden trains. (Click here for more details.) At the end of the hunt, you are supposed to bring your completed trivia back to the museum for a prize, but…Holly and I learned a valuable lesson…if you want to explore all the flavors of historic downtown Plant City, doing the scavenger hunt on a Monday isn’t advisable…most restaurants and shops are closed on Mondays. We did get to enjoy the aromas and fun gift ideas at Tub Treats, https://www.tubtreat.com/. Debra Flowers, the owner, is always so pleasant with her gracious spirit. And…yes…gifts were purchased. #supportlocal.
After our scavenger hunt, we headed to our neighboring city of Lakeland. Holly and I enjoyed lunch at The Joinery and a beautiful walk around Lake Mirror. The sites around the lake are picturesque. Observing the Christmas decorations around the lake, made us realize that we must return for the same adventure in the early evening.
Spending time with my girl is priceless. Like I mentioned earlier, the more time you spend with someone, the closer your relationship becomes. Think about how much time you spend with your Heavenly Father. My time in God’s word, listening to Christian music and pondering on Him, and chatting with Jesus throughout my day (that’s constant prayer, y’all) all forge my relationship with my Savior.
Being close to God strengthens me in times of weakness, encourages me in times of doubt, gives me peace when it seems that there’s chaos around me, and fills me with unconditional love.
I want to encourage you to take a loved one, a family member, a friend, your spouse, etc. and take little adventures. Build your relationship with one another. Above all, build your relationship with Christ by spending time with Him daily. When you are closer to Jesus, it will overflow into your earthly relationships.
Happy adventuring!
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
