People are happy when they give a good answer. And there is nothing better than the right word at the right time. Proverbs 15:23
Saying the right words at the right time…
Have you ever said something and you immediately wanted to take it back? (I’m raising my hand over here.) I praise God for the times that I wanted to say something to someone, but it was like the Holy Spirit put His hand right over my mouth as a gentle way to say, “don’t do it.”
There are times when words of love, gentleness, and affirmation were said at the right time to someone who needed to hear it.
You may find yourself in a situation when just a simple hug and being with someone is exactly what they needed. No words, all presence.
In Ecclesiastes 3:7b we read, There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.
Saying the right words at the right time requires wisdom and love. So, where does that come from? God.
I’m going to share a few bible verses with you to help us remember how we should speak with one another. They will remind us to:
- Love
- Honor one another
- Help each other
- Obey God
- Be kind
- Forgive
- Don’t lie
- Be encouraging
- Show love
- And reminding us that when we are believers in Jesus Christ, we should have a new way of thinking and our old selves are gone.
There is one verse that I pray you will have on your lips during your morning prayer and fresh in your mind throughout the day.
Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37
When we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength He will have a way of guiding us in our words and actions. Seek Him first and love Him big time and then your priorities will be in order.
Lord, I pray that I will love you with all that is within me. Guide me to say the right words at the right time. Thank you for your hand on my mouth when I need to be silent. Give me the gift of affection when no words are needed. I love you, Lord. Amen.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
