“Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.
Be wise enough to know when to quit.
5 In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle.”

Proverbs 23:4-5
Are you a workaholic?  I was just looking up statistics and information available through the internet about workaholics.  The benefits sounded rewarding.  How?  The world rewards this type of addiction by pay increases. But, I’m thinking that if your busy working all the time, how are you going to enjoy the reaping of your harvest?
Then, there were many sad effects due to this addiction to work.  Health, family, social, psychological, etc. are just a few to name that one may find suffering due to one constantly working.
I’ve always heard the saying, “You can’t take it with you to heaven.”  Does having money make things a bit easier in life? You bet.   But, it’s what you do with it and how you spend your time that really matter.
If you desire to work too much to be able to get and do more “stuff” with and for your family, then you just need to make sure that you keep your family a higher priority than your job so that you will be able to enjoy it with them when they are off vacationing, spending time together, enjoying the “finer” things in life.  Don’t put your family at risk.  Spend quality time daily with your family.  Let them know you care and love them more than your job and the “stuff” you’re able to provide for them.
Speaking of priorities, just as your family should be a higher priority than your job (way above it), your first priority in life should be your relationship with Jesus Christ.  Keep God first in all you say and do.
Matthew 6:19-24, “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have! You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both.”
Blessings to you.
