Remember the story in the bible about when Jesus was walking on the water, and the disciples saw Him and thought He was a ghost. Jesus was like, “Chill out. It’s just Me. Don’t be afraid.” Then Peter, probably straining his eyes and tilting his head like a dog, says something to the effect of, “Ummm, if that’s really You, tell me to come walk on the water with You.” Jesus said, “What are you waiting for! Join Me.”
He did it. Peter really stepped out of the boat and started walking on the water towards Christ. Imagine the faith it took for Peter to actually take that first step into the waves. Peter’s eyes were fixed on Jesus.
And then they skipped all around the boat, splashing each other in pure enjoyment. No, not at all. Peter’s faith waivered and he took his eyes off of Christ.
What happened when he took his eyes off of Christ? He started to sink in doubt and little faith. What a quick turn of events. From a complete leap of faith to a display of little faith.
Luckily, Peter recognized that he was sinking and cried out to Jesus. Jesus didn’t hesitate and reached for Peter. Jesus saved Peter and kept him safe.
Why do we doubt that God?
We need to always believe as the disciples realized and stated in Matthew 14:33, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Yes sirree, He is the Son of God. He can and will save you. Keep your eyes on Jesus at all times. Pray about everything. Step out in faith. Give it all to God. It is a scary ride being totally dependent on someone else. But He is not just anyone. He totally knows what He’s doing.
Keep your head above the waters of life and take ahold of God’s hand.
Prayer: “Lord, I need to rely on You more. I often think that I can handle things on my own, but let’s face it, I cannot do it alone. Help me to F.R.O.G. it (Fully Rely On God). I trust You, Lord. I trust You! Again…I. Trust. You! Amen.
Blessings to you.
