When I acquired the classroom I am currently in from a wonderful teacher who retired, the room space wasn’t all I acquired. I was given all the many years of “stuff” that was left behind. I slowly started cleaning out and getting rid of all the materials I didn’t need, which was A LOT. There were a lot of empty cabinet and drawer spaces by the time I finished “relocating” all the items.
I reorganized the space, and there were still some storage areas that were empty. It didn’t take long before “junk” started accumulating in those empty areas. Admit it; you have a junk drawer or two around your home. Well, that’s what will happen in our own lives if we don’t fill those spaces with good and godly things.
Reorganizing those drawers is a continuous development. Just like filling ourselves with Jesus should be a constant process also.
- Romans 5:5: And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
- Ephesians 5:18: “…be filled with the Spirit,”
When you become a Christian, you become filled with the Holy Spirit. That’s God’s love filling us. Continuously fill your life with God’s love by praying, reading and meditating on His word, fellowshipping with other believers, and sharing God’s love with others.
This thought all came to mind when I read Luke 11:24-26:
- 24 “When an evil spirit comes out of someone, it travels through dry places, looking for a place to rest. But it finds no place to rest. So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’ 25 When it comes back, it finds that home all neat and clean. 26 Then the evil spirit goes out and brings back seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before.”
When you turn away from sin and self, don’t just be content with that. Turn to Christ. Fill your life with Him. If you don’t replace the bad with the good, you are leaving room for more sin to come back in your life.
Be filled with godliness!
Blessings to you.
