Remember the Seinfeld episode when Kramer got a part in a Woody Allen movie saying “These pretzels are making me thirsty”?  Well, this is how I felt when reading God’s word today.  I was repeating in my head, “These words are making me thirsty!”
In John 4:7-26 today I read about the Samaritan woman at the well.  Jesus told her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Then in Psalm 63:1a I read, “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you…”
I search “how long can you go without water?” and this is a portion of one article I found from thewaterpage.com:

How long can you live without water? A person can survive only three to five days without water, in some cases people have survived for an average of one week. It is not recommended that anyone try this at home. Once the body is deprived of fluids the cells and organs in the body begin to deteriorate.

Now, think about this…when you become a Christian you have The Living Water within you. Reading the word of God, talking to Him, participating in a small group or church, or basking in His grace, etc. are all ways to keep you filled and rejuvenated…daily.  If you go without Christ for only three to five days, you will tend to dry up.  I do not recommend that you try this.  A parched Christian is not an effective Christian.  Also, when you go without chatting it up with God or soaking Him up in some fashion, your spiritual body can begin to deteriorate.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to go without God and be weakened.  Satan already has enough ways to try to attack me.  Why give him a wide opening instead of a little crack?  No thank you.
Then, later in that same article it says, “The presence of water in the body could mean the difference between life and death.”  Amen!!!  It’s up to you.  When your time on earth is through, do you want to spend eternity in Paradise or Hell?  Hmmm, no contest.  Paradise wins for me.  Fill me up with Living Water.
God’s word does make me thirsty for more of it.  Have you sipped or gulped your “Water” today?
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
