Woohoo! I am so grateful that I am a Christian! Why? Oh there are many reasons, but for now I’m appreciative that when life gets hard, and it does, I’ve got team captains that stand in the gap for me.
When I read Romans 8:26-9:5 there were so many great points I could write about, but three verses jumped out at me and reminded me that I am on the right team. Check out these verses:
- 26 Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words. 27 God already knows our deepest thoughts. And he understands what the Spirit is saying, because the Spirit speaks for his people in the way that agrees with what God wants. Romans 8:26-27 (ERV)
- Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34 (NIV)
There were various times this past summer when I felt at a loss of words when attempting to cry out to God. With the sudden loss of my wonderful mother-in-law, a dear friend’s dad passing, one of my husband’s former secretaries passing away, a special family who had to deal with a young gentlemen being killed in a car accident, and other situations (ugh!), I did have moments when my words and thoughts just didn’t seem to come out. But praise God that when those instances arise for we Christians, we have the Holy Spirit within us to step up to the plate and intercede for us. Not only does the Spirit speak for us, but He knows the right words to say that are in line with God’s plan. I have a feeling that He makes our words sounds so eloquent.
The Holy Spirit is not the only part of the Trinity that intercedes for us. When life gets tough, and it does and will, and Satan is trying his best to bring us down, guess who is standing in the gap? Christ Jesus. I can just imagine Christ gazing down on us, and when He observes us being wronged, He is almost standing in His seat beside our Father, pointing His fingers our way, and saying, “Hey, Dad, did you see that? Let me jump in and go gett’em! Your child is innocent.” Well, maybe not standing in His seat, but I do believe Jesus is passionate about us.
Romans 8:31 says it best when it reads, “If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us.” That’s right! Satan will try his best to tear us away from God, but it’s NOT going to happen. God is with and within us. Nothing can stand up against Him. Nothing!
It is comforting to know that I’ve got The Trinity standing up for me when I’m weak and when others try to get me down. Do you?
Blessings to you.
